I keep a list called Things I Bought Because I Skipped a Spec Review. It is not a list of broken products. Everything on it worked. That is the embarrassing part.

  2. What output or interface does the controller need?

  4. What mechanical or electrical connection fits the installation?
  5. What certificates and calibration history do I need?

Then, and only then, do I search for a product. For pressure instruments, I contact authorized WIKA pressure gauge distributors and ask about the full model code.
